Classic Rock Issue 325 (April 2024) Queen: The Making of "The Works"

"Let’s give ’em the works!” That was the rallying cry when Queen returned to the studio in 1983. And that’s exactly what they did. After a couple of years indulging some pop and disco whims, they decided that what they really needed to do was to return to rock. But it wasn’t all plain sailing. As The Works celebrates its 40th birthday, we take a look back at how Queen got back to basics and delivered a bit of a belter.
